Referencing the Yin and Yang sign, <i>Ab Initio</i> displays the primary forces of the universe.  It is the initial separation of one into two where one is the reflection of the other but not a perfectly symmetrical reflection.  Like splitting the atom this is the millisecond before the big bang, a true beginning, a metaphor for the initiation of life and the perpetual battle with entropy.
