Humo
2002. Stainless steel, 138 x 69 x 69 inches.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA.
Commissioned for the biotech department, Humo ('smoke' in Spanish) has the architecture of a tornado. Here the dynamic forces of heat are at play. Heat is the activator for life. Presenting a stainless steel sculpture as a poetic rendering of a most primary force in the process of creating and investigating life was the objective.
