Lockton Kelp
2002. Aluminum, stainless steel, polyurethane, 264 x 72 x 48 inches.
Lockton Kelp was designed to activate an architectural space, calling attention to the height
above the viewers. By positioning the installation next to a staircase, this allows the viewer to ascend the artwork, something like climbing a tree. Notions of gravity and subtle constant motion all around us are contained in the work, bringing to the viewer signals of nature to the interior urban space that surrounds it.
